Grafana Labs is hiring a Staff Software Engineer in Spain (Remote) to lead the technical direction of its Identity squad’s authentication systems and edge authentication redesign for millions of users.

Grafana Labs (a 100% remote company) is scaling its Identity and Access function, with the Identity squad owning the authentication layer that determines how every Grafana user proves who they are across open-source and proprietary codebases.

In this Staff Engineer role, you’ll define the architecture for authentication systems, lead large multi-quarter initiatives across services and teams, and act as a technical authority on identity protocols including MCP OAuth (OAuth 2.1), OIDC, SAML, LDAP, and SCIM; the work split is approximately 55% backend development (Golang), 25% technical leadership/collaboration, and 20% operations and reliability.
